Domain Name Registration - the Critical Step for Every Web Site Owner

Domain name registration for brick and mortar: Joe Soap, a local plumber who's been in business for twenty years figures he needs a web site for his plumbing business. (Every successful business has a web site these days...) After many sleepless nights on his computer creating a masterpiece of a web page, he's finally ready to make his mark on the internet. Oops! He soon discovers that becoming part of the internet requires about as much qualification as becoming a plumber!

So, Mr. Soap spends a few more hours surfing the internet to figure out how to present his masterpiece to the world. He soon finds that the first step to getting on the internet is domain name registration. This involves the procedure of first investigating with the domain name registry whether one's chosen domain name is available or whether someone else in the world has been quicker with their domain name registration.

Mr. Soap then carries out a search for domain name registration companies. He wasn't quite prepared for the results of his search for 'domain name registration'. This presents him with yet another sleepless night reading up on all the various offerings for domain name registration.

What he found was that he could go directly to the domain name registration companies, but would probably be better off with one of the (many) professional web hosting companies to carry out his domain name registration for him.

All this would require would be for Mr. Soap to submit his proposed domain name for registration. He could even search on the web host's site for availability of his chosen domain name.

Once it was confirmed that his domain name was available for domain name registration, he web hosting company would carry out all the procedures for swift and hassle-free domain name registration.

All Mr. Soap had to do was pay his once off domain name registration fee to the host company. The web host company would then forward the domain name registration fee to the domain name registration organization. Soon he was the proud owner of his very own 'live' web site for all to see on the internet.

Wonder who Joe used for his domain name registration? If he'd looked a little further, he may have found a web host who would have offered free domain name registration in return for Mr. Soap taking out a hosting package contract with them.

And, having spent - or had he known, wasted - so much time on developing his web page and learning about domain name registration, Joe Soap almost lost his plumbing business! Perhaps he should stick with installing showers and unblocking drains and leave such matters as web design, domain name registration and web site maintenance to the professionals! On the other hand, according to Joe Soap, his exercise in web design and domain name registration unveiled a new hobby - the internet!
